Jump for joy
This Monday, WallE and I had our first jump lesson in quite some time. Laura set a course with a few singles and one tricky in and out. We had a successful warm up (WallE was responsive and ready to work) and then started working over a few fences.
He was so happy to be jumping in the arena - I could feel his excitement and happiness to be jumping rather than just flatting. The lesson turned towards working on seeing the distance and being able to adjust the canter appropriately. We were having moderate success, but every time at the last jump it seemed like we were just barely making it over.
I would ride deep into the base or I would see the long and WallE would not. Either way, we jumped it like a cow, like a giraffe and sideways monkey....just use your imagination.
Eventually we had a clean, rhythmic jump over and we called it a day. Laura says I need to practice more...I plan to.
