The Wrap Up
I have fallen behind on posting, so here is the summary. WallE and I have been jumping. A lot of jumping. Working on moving forward to the jump, instead of my favorite (going slower and slower until the jump is right in front of you). We had a GREAT lesson last Monday with a challenging course where we found our distance and speed. On Wednesday I took WallE on a trail ride with a few riders, then on Friday we jumped the course form Monday on our own. WallE was a champ. Came out of the warm up forward and ready to go. We jump the course forward and backwards with fabulous results. On Saturday, we took my mother and brother to Kings Mountain Military park for a 10 mile long trail and then on Sunday we had a lesson with Molly Xanthopolous.
Our lesson was GREAT! I like when we lesson with Molly and feel as if we are on our A-Game. We most definitely were on our A-Game and Molly was able to help us work through resistance through the back using half halts. Almost walk, then trot. Almost walk, then trot. Walk. Then trot. Walk, then trot. Walk, then halt. Trot. It really worked and WallE was so responsive.
The second half of the lesson we worked on leg yields. WallE was more willing to accept the contact moving to the right, but we had some success to the left as well. Molly had us counter bend for the majority of the work to the left and the results were great. I feel like we have lots of things to work on between now and June...continuing to work on staying straight in our movements and focusing on the back legs...now that we seem to have the front end figured out.
